Computing

At Bishopthorpe Infant School we believe that every one of our pupils should have the opportunity to use and experience a range of new technologies and begin the journey to becoming computer literate in a world dominated by technology. Our aim is to equip our pupils to fulfil their potential and be able to use computing to open up other learning opportunities. We are also committed to using technology in an innovative way to open up access to learning for pupils with SEN.

Our aim is to offer a high quality computing curriculum which enables children to:

  • Learn key computer skills
  • Type
  • Research
  • Handle data
  • Be aware of and have knowledge of e safety
  • Be in accordance with the National Curriculum
  • Use a range of software
  • Be digitally literate

Our pupils in EYFS have opportunities to use technology in areas of provision. Staff are skilled in modelling and teaching skills in these areas and teachers use a range of technology to assist learning.

In KS1 pupils have Computing lessons but also use computing regularly within other subjects and lessons. Resources include Chrome books, iPads, Bee-bots or Blue-bots, microphones and Google Classroom.
