Autumn Term 2020
We have all settled in really well to Year One and we are enjoying our topic 'Hop on Board'.
The first few weeks we have focused on space travel and looked at the important historical figures Neil Armstrong (first man to step on the moon) and Mae Jemison (the first African American woman to travel in to space). Ask your children to tell you some facts about these two!
September- Exploring our new learning areas in Year One
Super mathematicians!
Black History month
As part of black history month we have been learning about important black figures in our transport topic. The children have learnt a lot about Mae Jemison who was the first black woman to travel into space and Bessie Coleman who was the first African-American to hold a pilots licence, learning French in order to fulfil her dream of flying.
Exploring Autumn
Year 1 have used forest school sessions to explore the school grounds and look for signs of Autumn. They collected a number of different leaves that had fallen from trees in the school grounds, selecting autumn coloured paint to make prints with them on paper.
