Summer 2

Oh I do Like to be Beside the Seaside!

In Willow Class we have looked at the story of The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. We used a story map to help us retell the original story and then we wrote our own versions. We changed the plans that Mrs Grinnling made to get rid of the pesky seagulls! It is fantastic to see how far each child’s writing has come on this year. We have loved reading each and every story.

Performance poetry

In Sycamore and Beech the children have been writing poems about summer and the seaside. They worked with a partner and chose actions to go with each line performing them to the class. Here is a selection of the poems they created.

In Birch class the children have been learning about printing. They used a pencil to make their image on a Styrofoam tile and then covered the tile with printing ink using a roller. They loved lifting up the tile to see what the print underneath looked like! Can you guess which sea creature each print is of?

In Oak we have been thinking about the things we like to do in summer and how to keep safe in the sun. Our favourites were going to the sea side and eating ice cream!
