Consultation on Yorkshire Learning Trust (City of York) schools’ admission arrangements 2027/28
Schools have a statutory duty to consult on admission arrangements every 7 years or when making changes to their admission arrangements.
Yorkshire Learning Trust (YLT) is consulting on the admission arrangements for its schools in the City of York local authority area for the 2027-28 school year. This is because we are proposing to make changes to our admission arrangements in line with changes proposed by the City of York Council (CYC) and York School and Academy Board (YSAB) as outlined below:
YSAB Admissions Statement: In line with the City of York Council and York School and Academy Board’s (YSAB) commitment to Fair School Admissions we have reviewed our admissions arrangements in line with the Sutton Trust Fair School Admissions Pledge The Sutton Trust.
We have also separated our admissions policy into two: one for primary (including infant and junior i.e. Reception and Year 3) admissions and one for secondary (Year 7) admissions, to be more in line with the CYC policies. There are no proposed changes to our schools’ PAN (Published Admissions Number).
The consultation is applicable to the following YLT schools:
· Archbishop’s of York Church of England Junior School
· Bishopthorpe Infant School
· Dunnington Church of England Primary School
· Fulford School
· Wheldrake with Thorganby Church of England Primary School
The consultation opens on 20 October 2025 and closes on 03 December 2025. During this period, the views of parents/carers, schools, staff, neighbouring authorities and other interested parties are being sought.
Following this period of consultation, the admission arrangements will be considered by the YLT Trust Board alongside any comments made. The admission arrangements will be determined by 28 February 2026. Determined policies will be on the YLT website by 15 March 2026.
How to submit any comments
Please see www.ylt.org.uk/policies for documents found in their draft (pre-determined) form, and for the determined policies for 2025-26 and 2026-27.
Responses are being collated by an online survey; schools, trusts, parents/carers and any interested parties may all contribute to the Admission Consultation. If you wish to contribute you are invited to go to www.ylt.org.uk/policies and complete the survey online.
Paper copies of the arrangements can be requested from Rachel Greenhalgh at clerktogovs@ylt.org.uk.
The consultation closes on 03 December 2025.
