Forest Schools
Forest School is a unique method of outdoor education that allows children to develop confidence, independence, self-esteem and awareness and knowledge of the natural environment.
At Bishopthorpe Infant School we are lucky enough to have a wildlife area in the school grounds, mature trees and a large grassed area that are all used during Forest School sessions.
During the first Forest School session, children become involved with the setting and understanding of the Forest School rules. At the beginning of every session the rules are reinforced to ensure the children's safety.
All of our pupils are involved in forest school activities throughout the year that include learning about seasonal changes and learning to care for their environment. Children will take part in a range of activities including: sensory walks, storytelling, foraging, shelter building, mini-beast hunts and nature art.
